What is an airmate?
An airmate is a freelancer who acts as an On Board Courier (OBC) and has extensive experience as a frequent flyer. They have successfully completed the airmates application and have a verified profile.
airmates are responsible for hand-carrying time-sensitive and valuable items, such as documents, samples, or high-priority shipments. They personally escort the items to ensure secure and fast delivery. They also stay in constant communication with our operations team and provide updates to the customer.
Requirements to become an airmate
To ensure the safety and security of our shipments, it is essential for an On Board Courier to have a no criminal record.
All applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Regular experience with air travel.
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Have a valid passport with more than 6 months until expiration.
- Be in possession of a smartphone with international roaming and data capabilities.
- Have international health insurance.
- Hold a valid credit card with international usability.
- Fluent in English, the primary language for team communication.
In addition, applicants should also have:
- Knowledge of airports: Experienced flyers are likely to be familiar with different airports, their layouts, and procedures, which helps to move quickly and efficiently through the terminals, reducing the risk of delays.
- Understanding of customs and import/export regulations: Familiarity with these regulations is essential to avoid delays and potential legal issues during border crossings.
- Attention to detail: airmates couriers must be meticulous in handling shipments and ensuring that all required documentation is accurate and in order.
- Flexible schedule: airmates should be prepared for irregular hours and be able to adjust their plans to mission requirements.
- Problem-solving skills: airmates may encounter unexpected challenges during their journeys. The ability to think on their feet and find creative solutions is essential.
How to become an airmate?
- Make sure you have the required documents at hand before starting the application, including a valid frequent flyer program, a background certificate, and a passport with at least 6 months until expiration.
- Start the application process after reviewing the requirements. Note: Frequent flyer experience is mandatory.
- Wait for the final email confirmation about your profile status. This email may ask for more information, highlight any mistakes in your documents, or let you know if your application is rejected due to not meeting the requirements.
- If you pass the application process, make sure you understand how the missions work. This is important to avoid questions during the shipment process. “Time matters”, so delivering on time is crucial.
If you meet these requirements, you are on your way to becoming an airmate.
Additional qualifications such as experience with long-distance travel and familiarity with customs procedures will be beneficial. You should also be familiar with instructions for package handover, customs information, and final delivery at the destination airport.
